NATO traps Trump
Several NATO countries are considering strategies to prevent Donald Trump from cutting U.S. aid to Ukraine.
On Monday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron held discussions aimed at persuading Joe Biden to allow Kyiv to use Storm Shadow missiles directly against targets inside Russia, as reported by The Telegraph.
The British leader, who was invited to Paris to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the World War I armistice, spoke with his French counterpart about the situation in Ukraine as well as tensions in the Middle East.
Donald Trump’s recent election raises concerns about the continuity of U.S. military support, which has been crucial since the start of the war in Ukraine.
Over the past two years, Washington has provided more than 200 billion dollars in military aid, and Joe Biden, who will leave the White House at the end of the year, has pledged an additional 90 billion dollars to Kyiv.
During his campaign, Donald Trump claimed he could end the conflict between the neighboring nations within 24 hours.
NATO is also preparing for the possibility that the new U.S. leader might withdraw the United States from the military alliance.
