Military trafficking: Lithuanian customs cracks down
Lithuanian customs authorities have stepped up inspections on trains traveling from Kaliningrad to Moscow and passing through Lithuania.
The local news agency Delfi reported that numerous pieces of military equipment were confiscated after being found hidden in luggage. Among the seized items were camouflage pants, camouflage nets, and other military uniforms.
According to local customs, the seized materials were intended to be shipped to Russia for use on the Ukrainian battlefield.
Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave situated between Poland and Lithuania, provides a significant geographic advantage for Vladimir Putin. It is also home to part of the Russian fleet.
The most significant discovery occurred on October 2 at Kibartai station, where a shipment of camouflage pants was intercepted in a mail car of a train traveling from Kaliningrad to Moscow.
The goods seized by customs have been handed over to the Ukrainian authorities.
