The terrible Dragon drones that are destroying Russian tanks
Ukraine now uses Dragon drones to burn Russian bunkers and tanks.
Originally used to attack Russians hiding in trees and trenches, Ukraine’s Dragon drones, which spit thermite, are taking on new targets.
Primarily used in grenade and artillery shells, among other applications, thermite is a combination of oxidized iron and aluminum. The compound can be dropped or sprayed in a manner similar to a flamethrower. The combination of thermite’s searing heat and the drone’s maneuverability and speed makes it a highly lethal and versatile weapon.
Initially, theses drones were deployed to burn areas where Russians were taking cover under dense vegetation. Ukraine has now expanded its target list.
It has decided to use these drones to attack armor. Using these fire-breathing drones on other types of targets makes sense, as thermite may not be able to destroy some targets, but it can certainly damage them and put them out of action.
Burning alive in a bunker is also a terrible psychological deterrent, in addition to being brutally effective.
