“A conveyor belt leading Russians to their death”

On the battlefield, the Russians use very special tactics. On the Ukrainian side, these are known as “meat attacks.”

More than 10 times a day and in just a few hours, waves of Russian soldiers can reach and attack Ukrainian defensive positions. Lieutenant Colonel Anton Bayev, from the Khartia Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, explains that “in most cases, the Russians use this method simply to see where our defense artillery is and to constantly exhaust our units.” A method that not only exhausts the enemy physically and psychologically, but also has consequences on the Russian side.

Indeed, these “meat attacks” have resulted in a huge number of Russian casualties since Moscow's last offensive two months ago. According to some Western officials, nearly 1,200 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded daily in May and June. Lieutenant Colonel Anton Bayev points out that the drones quickly spot the attackers almost every time, after which the Russians leave their wounded or dead at the front. “Their main task is simply to attack us and exhaust us completely,” he says.

This tactic was based on a precise strategy: making the best use of Russia's main advantage - their number of soldiers, according to BBC News. Capain Ivan Sekach of the 110th Ukrainian Brigade compares the technique to “an assembly line that leads the Russians to their death, but allows them to advance slowly.”
