Kim Jong Un sends friend to fight in Ukraine

Kim Jong Un has sent a trusted general in charge of special forces to Russia to oversee operations in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian intelligence.

General Kim Yong Bok, deputy head of the North Korean army and a veteran of the special forces, is frequently seen photographed alongside the North Korean leader.

In a statement provided to the United Nations, Kyiv identified Kim Yong Bok as the highest-ranking officer sent to Russia, potentially signaling North Korea’s entry into the war on Russia's side.

Ukraine also warned that this military alliance poses a "threat to Europe, the Korean Peninsula, neighboring countries, and beyond."

This development comes as Washington now estimates that 8,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed to Russia’s Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces made advances last summer.

This week, Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui traveled to Moscow to meet with Sergey Lavrov. Although the Kremlin did not release details of the meeting, some media reports suggest that Pyongyang may have requested computer equipment and other technical support in exchange for the troops sent to Russia.
