Kim Jong Un has ordered the "mass production" of attack drones, according to local media, as the North Korean leader attended a test of the weapon on Friday.

The drones, developed by North Korea’s Unmanned Aerial Technology Complex, are designed to strike both land and sea targets.

"He underscored the need to build a serial production system as early as possible and go into full-scale mass production," the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

These drones carry explosive payloads intended to destroy a variety of targets, much like guided missiles.

Pyongyang first unveiled this drone prototype last August, and some experts worry that this technological advancement may stem from increased cooperation with Russia.

The drone tests were deemed successful, as the targets were "precisely" destroyed.
