Joe Biden has pledged $8 billion in new military aid to Ukraine, with the prospect to provide Kyiv with the equipment it needs to overthrow Russia.

During a meeting between the two leaders in the United States, the American leader also mentioned sending new long-range munitions to Ukraine.

“Today, I am announcing increased security assistance for Ukraine and a series of additional actions to help Ukraine win this war,” Joe Biden said in a statement.

However, Washington still won't allow Ukraine to use American weapons to strike targets on Russian soil. Despite this setback, Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that this new aid will help his country “win the war”.

“We will use this aid in the most effective and transparent way to achieve our main common goal: victory for Ukraine, a just and lasting peace,” the Ukrainian leader wrote on Telegram.
