Hundreds of missiles and drones rain down on Ukraine
Russia launched a massive missile and drone assault on Ukraine this Sunday, targeting the country’s energy infrastructure.
One missile, armed with cluster munitions, struck a nine-story residential building in Sumy, killing at least 11 people, including two children.
The Interior Minister reported that 400 people were evacuated as rescue teams began searching the rubble for survivors.
This attack comes after U.S. President Joe Biden authorized the Ukrainian military to use American weaponry to strike targets exclusively in Russia’s Kursk region, where Russian and Ukrainian forces are currently engaged in heavy fighting.
While the White House has yet to confirm the decision, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed satisfaction, having sought this authorization for months. With the approval, Ukraine’s military will now be able to deploy long-range ATACMS missiles.
