Hit and sunk? Ukraine strikes deep in the Caspian Sea
Ukraine has struck far from the front line. For the first time, it has managed to hit Russian navy missile boats in the Caspian Sea, located in Western Asia!
Ukrainian explosive drones reportedly hit a target more than 1,000km from the front line on the morning of November 6, 2024. According to a Ukrainian military intelligence source, the devices hit the enemy missile frigates “Tatarstan” and “Daguestan” and smaller vessels of the “Project 21631” type. These were anchored in the Caspian Sea at the port of Kaspiisk in Dagestan. An online video shows the attack. A military vessel is hit by a large explosion.
Attack repelled
From the Russian authorities, it's just a question of a repulsed attack, so we don't know how badly the Russian naval vessels were hit, or whether they're still operational. In any case, since the start of the war, Ukraine has demonstrated its know-how in the field of aerial and naval drones, to the point of controlling part of the Black Sea, pushing the Russian fleet away from Ukraine's borders.
