High-ranking Russian officer killed in car bomb attack

Two Crimean residents have been arrested following a car bombing of a prominent Russian naval officer in Sebastopol and have made confessions. A 38-year-old man from Sebastopol and a 47-year-old woman from Yalta have confessed their involvement in the attack. They were acting on behalf of Ukraine.

Russian authorities have accused Alexander Poklad, the deputy head of Ukraine's security service, of orchestrating the Nov. 13 bombing. The Russian naval officer would have been specifically targetted because of his involvement in killing hundreds of Ukrainian civilians with missile attacks.

The car bombing in Sebastopol killed Valery Trankovsky, a first-class captain of the Russian Black Sea fleet. The man himself was partly responsible for the fleet that Russia uses for missile attacks on targets all over Ukraine. Already hundreds of Ukrainian civilians are said to have died in these attacks.
