Do European countries intercept Russian Trojan in time?
No European port wants to allow preliminary ship MV Ruby to dock. This damaged Russian freighter has been sailing along the coastline of northern Europe for weeks, looking for a port where it can dock for repairs. But no one, fearing a giant explosion, dares to let the Russian freighter dock.
The ship in question has a cracked hull and damaged propeller and has been lying off the coast of Britain for more than a week now. But no one wants to come to the rescue because of the ship's unusual cargo. After all, on board are thousands of tons of Russian fertilizer, and these could lead to a catastrophic explosion. In fact, the ship is reportedly carrying 20,000 tons of Russian ammonium nitrate, a substance used as fertilizer.
European leaders fear the ship could be a so-called Trojan horse, sent to sabotage vital shipping and port infrastructure. The MV Ruby is registered in Malta and operated by Serenity Shipping, based in the United Arab Emirates. But European governments suspect that there is more behind it...
