Desperate, Vladimir Putin recruits old and weak men
Vladimir Putin is being forced to enlist the elderly and physically unfit men to replenish his army, which has been severely depleted after more than two years of conflict in Ukraine.
While Russia relies on overwhelming manpower and military equipment to gain ground in the Donbas, the Russian army remains significantly weakened. According to several Pentagon officials, the Russian leader has lost more than 600,000 troops.
The Kremlin is set to implement a new conscription this fall, aiming to recruit 100,000 men. Additionally, Moscow is offering increased salaries and other social benefits to entice people to join the military.
This strategy has allowed Russia to maintain a steady flow of young recruits, but this trend may soon come to an end, as Moscow is now forced to turn to older, less healthy individuals.
More than half of the new recruits are over 45, according to a source from Moscow's city hall, as reported by the independent Russian media outlet Vyorstka.
Another source even noted that the average age of recruits has risen from 40 to 50 years.
