Big defeat for Putin
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Ukrainian forces bombed a Russian ammunition depot in Toropets, about 165 kilometers northwest of Moscow.
As much as 30,000 tons of ammunition were stored in the Russian depot. It turned out to be Russia's largest missile arsenal, containing S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, North Korean ballistic missiles and fearsome flying bombs. The Ukrainians used about a hundred drones to attack it.
The explosions caused an impressive sea of flames. It took firefighters several hours to bring the fire under control. The destruction of the depot even caused an earthquake: the first tremors were recorded around 4am and measured 2.8 on the scale.
The Ukrainian president, following this large-scale operation, expressed his gratitude to his armed forces. “A very important result was achieved last night on Russian territory and such actions weaken the enemy. I thank all those involved. Such precision is truly inspiring.” In addition, the Russian warehouse was estimated at nearly $39 million; a great loss for Putin, and a great victory for Ukraine.
