Beware Putin, North Korea can team up with Ukraine

12,000 North Korean soldiers to be deployed in Ukraine to aid Kremlin forces, says Zelenskyy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently announced that 12,000 North Korean soldiers are set to be deployed to support Russian forces in Ukraine.

This move, however, has not been welcomed by all North Koreans. In fact, North Korean military veterans who have settled in South Korea have expressed their willingness to join the war—on the Ukrainian side. According to the South China Morning Post, around 200 of these veterans, with 7 to 10 years of military experience, are ready to take action. Their aim? To "launch a psychological warfare campaign against their former comrades."

One of these veterans noted that they are "all seasoned military veterans" who understand "North Korea’s military culture and psychological state better than anyone else", before adding: "We’re ready to go wherever needed to work as psychological warfare agents, using loudspeaker broadcasts, distributing leaflets, and even acting as interpreters."

An official request to join the Ukrainian side has already been submitted to President Zelenskyy.
