After pagers, walkie-talkies explode in Lebanon
Rescuers and sources close to Hezbollah indicate that walkie-talkies exploded in Lebanon on Wednesday, the day after the explosion of 3,000 pagers. The UN will demand accountability for these sabotage attacks.
In the suburbs of Beirut, several walkie-talkies exploded on Wednesday during the funerals of Hezbollah members. Other detonations were reportedly heard in Saida and Baalbeck. This looks like another sabotage operation, with no confirmation at this time. Regarding the pagers affair, Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, will make an adress on Thursday. For his part, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, recalled that this operation is a violation of international law. He will call for an “independent, serious and transparent investigation”. His goal is to find those behind this sabotage campaign and “make them pay”.
