French tomato thief (35) turns out to be wanted Romanian killer
The allotment owners in the French village of Décines-Charpieu near Lyon had had enough. They put so much work into their vegetable garden and every time it was finally time to harvest, someone sneaked off with all the vegetables.
The thefts always happened at night and the thief was clearly not ashamed because he took large quantities of vegetables each time. Ripe zucchini, tomatoes and cucumbers, he stole them unashamedly. Until the allotment owners had had enough and set up a trap.
They installed a camera and found out that the thief invaded the property every time between 11:30 p.m. and 00:30 a.m. Last weekend, the owners of the gardens hid until the man arrived with his bicycle and climbed over the fence. Then they all locked him in, leaving him with no way out. The police were immediately called in, and then the worst was yet to come.
The police checked the identity of the thief and found out that he is wanted for murder in Belgium. The man in question was Dacian Severin V., a 35-year-old Romanian who was a resident of Belgium but was apparently living in hiding in France. The man was the subject of a European arrest warrant issued by Belgium for the 2019 murder of Georgette Van Den Bogaerde of Ghent. He will soon be extradited to Belgium.
