Does this sport make you age faster?
Having “the face of a runner” is an expression that is taken with a pinch of salt in the running world. On the other hand, it seems to freak out web surfers. While social media networks are in turmoil, concerns arise one after the other. We could even wonder if continuing to run is really reasonable.
The “face of a runner” refers to a wrinkled and gaunt face. The preconceived idea? That when running, facial features sag “particularly due to the impact of the feet on the ground”, reports La Dépêche. We therefore wrongly associate certain facial characteristics with physical activities, encouraging us to no longer practice this or that sport.
"People confuse cause and correlation here. What we call 'runner's face' is often correlated with a person's profile and lifestyle. But running doesn't specifically give someone a gaunt face," emphasizes Dr. Kiya Movassaghi, American plastic surgeon and triathlete, on the Healthline website, relayed by La Dépêche.
Given that this's an outdoor sport, it's still advisable to protect your skin as much as possible, in particular with good sun protection. Running in the city when the pollution rate is low is also part of the useful recommendations to avoid the damaging of the skin.
