“Audience at speech Donald Trump Jr. in Greenland were homeless who only came for free meal” (Greenland hotel owner)
The son of future President Donald Trump made a glitzy visit to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, last week, he says, to record a video. The timing for the visit seems remarkable, as his father has set his sights on Greenland and is eager to buy the territory. It seems the purpose of the visit was to bring locals closer to the new U.S. president.
Donald Trump Jr. invited local “fans” to the Hans Egede hotel for lunch. Footage from the event shows supporters wearing Make America Great Again caps heading to the hotel. Trump Jr. addressed attendees, calling his father during the meeting and putting his smartphone on speaker so attendees could hear the future president of the United States directly. “We're going to treat you well,” the future president said over the phone. But was this all staged play? According to the local hotel manager, the attendees were in actualid homeless people who had turned up for the free meal and received a free Trump hat.
“That was of course a bit strange for us because we saw guests we have never seen in our hotel before - and probably will never see again because it is beyond their economic means,” Jørgen Bay-Kastrup, the hotel's CEO told the Danish press. By the way, the group of about 15 was served a traditional Greenlandic lunch of fish and caribou. However, a spokesman for Trump Jr. vehemently denied the hotel boss' claims, calling them "nonsensically ridiculous".
But it would not have stopped there. Since Trump Jr.'s brief visit, people with MAGA caps and American flags were also reportedly suddenly walking the streets of Nuuk. They would hand out $100 bills to people outside the supermarket. So Jacob Nordstrøm told the Greenland newspaper Sermitsiaq. His 11-year-old son had come home with a $100 bill.
