"Historic” agreement between UK and Ukraine
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed an agreement described by both countries as “historic”.
This is a “100-year” partnership between Ukraine and the UK. As Keir Starmer announced just after the signing in the Ukrainian capital: “Together we have signed a historic agreement, the very first of its kind, a new partnership between the UK and Ukraine that reflects the enormous affection that exists between our two nations.” He also congratulated Volodymyr Zelensky himself, underlining the obvious strengthening of ties between Kiev and London. “Our relations are closer than ever,” he declared enthusiastically.
As 20 Minutes points out, the agreement covers, among other things, enhanced cooperation in defense and maritime security, but also “scientific and technological partnerships in areas such as healthcare and disease, agro-technology, space and drones”.
