Gap between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris narrows
According to an exclusive USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are tied in the final stretch of the presidential campaign, as the Democratic Party struggles to drum up enthusiasm among Latino and black voters.
The poll put Harris at 45 percent, Trump at 44 percent, a tighter race than the one seen in August. At that time, the day after the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Harris led the former president by five percentage points, 48 percent to 43 percent.
In their explanations, voters said Harris had not adequately explained the specific policies she would pursue in office, 57 percent against 37 percent. Among those who want to know more, nearly one in four (23 percent) support it.
By contrast, respondents were evenly split, 49 percent to 48 percent, on whether Trump had adequately explained his policies. Only 15% of his supporters want to know more about what he would do if elected.
