What to do with your Christmas tree?

Christmas is already behind us and New Year's Eve has also been digested. With recharged batteries, we start the new year, so those Christmas decorations and Christmas tree may make way. But what do we best do with our Christmas tree after Christmas? Bosplus gives us expert advice.

Plant your tree in the garden
Important when planting your Christmas tree in your garden is that you first let the tree get used to colder temperatures. So do not put it directly into the ground, but let it acclimatise for a while in a cooler place in the house (such as in the garage, or on the veranda). Beware, you can only plant the tree if it is not freezing for a few days, otherwise it will not last long.

Plant the Christmas tree with its inner pot in the ground, so you can use it again in subsequent years. Make sure the pot is still about ten centimetres above the ground and can guarantee sufficient drainage. And don't forget to give it extra water when there is little rain or it gets warm. In December, you can then dig the tree back out and use it again. It might need a bigger pot. As old friends, you can spend Christmas together again.

Take your tree to a Christmas tree shelter
Don't have room in the garden? No worries! There are also sustainable solutions for you. For example, you can take your Christmas tree to a Christmas tree shelter. A guesthouse for trees as it were, where they get the necessary care and love until you come to pick them up again. The trees handed in are planted by a circular nursery and can be picked up again by their owners the following year.

By the way, nothing prevents you from combining and experimenting with different sustainable solutions: you can also alternate a second-hand artificial Christmas tree with a real tree, which you then plant and let grow?
