Taylor Swift fans strike again!
Although the singer has not shared her opinion with regards tp the presidential elections, her fans, nicknamed the Swifties, have largely mobilized in favor of Kamala Harris.
For the Democratic candidate's campaign, they managed to raise $144,000. Last Tuesday, August 27, the fan group (very invested) brought together more than 26,000 people during a call organized online, on Zoom. The artist Carole King and senators Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand were among those present, reports CNN, relayed by L'indépendant.
Since Joe Biden's resounding withdrawal from the presidential race, the group "Swifties For Kamala" has created an incredible movement, gathering nearly 250 million subscribers on social media.
All this despite the fact that their idol has not (yet?) spoken out about the elections. On social media, the "Swifties For Kamala" have made it clear that they are in no way affiliated with Taylor Swift. "We're not waiting for Taylor to show her support for Kamala Harris. We're doing this independantly, using the Swifties platform as a way to engage people in the election," says Rohan Reaga, the group's social media manager.
