US country music star Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault and battery in a civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles by an anonymous hair and make-up artist referred to as “Jane Roe.” The lawsuit alleges that Brooks raped her during a work trip in May 2019 and subjected her to ongoing sexual harassment throughout the year, including groping and explicit comments while she styled his hair and make-up.Brooks has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “lies” and claiming he is “incapable” of such behavior. He described the situation as an attempt to extort money from him, stating, “It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face”. The claimant's attorney, Douglas Wigdor, known for representing high-profile #MeToo cases, claims Brooks exploited the stylist during her financial struggles, leading to a pattern of harassment. The lawsuit details a specific incident where Brooks allegedly raped Roe in a hotel room, resulting in physical injuries and emotional trauma. Following the incident, she sought medical attention for her injuries. In a separate legal move, Brooks filed a lawsuit in Mississippi, asserting that Roe's allegations are false and aimed at damaging his reputation. He claims that her demands for financial assistance escalated, leading to her accusations when he declined to provide further support.
