Driver of SUV intentionally drives cyclist (27) to death: France in shock
People took to the streets in Paris and other French cities last weekend to demonstrate for greater road safety. The immediate cause of these protest marches is the extreme case of traffic aggression in which the driver of an SUV intentionally drove 27-year-old Paul Varry off the road in Paris on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old driver of the SUV allegedly intentionally hit the 27-year-old cyclist after an argument got out of hand. The cyclist died from his injuries. The SUV driver is suspected of murder.
The extreme case of traffic aggression reportedly began when the driver drove over a distance of 200 meters across a separated bike lane to save time, driving over the cyclist's foot in the process.
French cyclist organizations had called for the actions to demand more safety measures.
