'Mistake' in the port: cocaine ends up in supermarket
Employees of 11 German supermarkets were in for a surprise when they opened boxes of bananas to put on the shelves: the boxes turned out to contain blocks of cocaine.
The incident occurred at the beginning of September, according to German tabloid Bild all in branches of supermarket chain Aldi: banana boxes had been delivered from a central distribution point, but they turned out to contain blocks of cocaine.
According to German police, the delivery of bananas from South America arrived in Germany via the port of Antwerp: drug criminals must have made a ‘mistake’ in extracting the drugs at the port of Antwerp.
A total of 95 kilos of drugs were discovered, with a street value of more than €7 million.
