It’s confirmed: Belgians love to go out and eat fries
In Flanders, one in four households goes to the chip shop, known as the 'Frikot', once a week. This is one of the data that came out of a socio-economic study carried out by Sirius Insight on the eating habits of Belgians. Who like to go out to eat.
During Covid, home deliveries and ordering meal boxes had increased in Belgium. According to a study by Sirius Insight, this craze significantly faded in 2023. On the other hand, "eating out" remains a well-established and appreciated habit. Particularly in Brussels where 27% of respondents go to a restaurant or snack bar at least once a week.
Fries, fries, fries
The catering sector (horeca in Belgium) that was particularly successful in 2023 was fast food and chip shops. Young city dwellers in particular are the ones who are going crazy for burgers and fries. And within the context of the tradition of the family outing to the 'fritkot', 1 in 4 Flemish households succumbs to the temptation every week, each with their own choice of sauce, of course.
