Ukraine strikes, Kim Jong-un retaliates

North Korea, which has pledged its support to Moscow, has just sent rocket launchers and artillery systems to the Russian armed forces.

According to Lee Seong-kweun, a South Korean parliamentarian, the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) confirmed "that the North has sent 170mm self-propelled artillery pieces and 240mm long-range rocket launchers" to Russia.

Personnel have also been deployed there to manage the maintenance of the weapons, which are not part of the Russian conventional arsenal, the parliamentarian said.

Lee Seong-kweun also said that intelligence estimates the number of North Korean soldiers deployed in Russia at 11,000. The NIS is also said to be aware of losses suffered by these new troops. For the moment, neither country has confirmed this presence on Russian soil. At the end of October, Kim Jong-un nevertheless stressed that any deployment would be "in accordance" with international law, the two allies now being bound by a mutual defense treaty, recently ratified, reports France info.
