Ukraine is invading Russia
Ukraine has continued to make advances in Russia's Kursk region, which they partially captured in a surprise assault last summer.
According to the U.S.-based think tank, the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces have progressed south of the town of Korenevo, despite recent Russian offensives bolstered by a contingent of North Korean soldiers.
In addition to manpower, North Korea has supplied Moscow with long-range missiles and artillery components, further supporting Russia’s efforts.
"The deployment of North Korean troops—which could well increase in number in the short-term—makes clear how North Korea is not just a passive observer but an active participant in the Ukraine war," Edward Howell, Korea Foundation Fellow at the Chatham House think tank in London, England, told Newsweek.
"By supplying manpower, Pyongyang has made clear that it is willing to supply more than just artillery and ballistic missiles, and, too, that in so doing, it will likely ask for increasing benefits from Russia in return," he added to the media.
