The ultimatum issued to NATO

Belarus acts as a satellite state of the Kremlin and its president, Alexander Lukashenko, is one of Putin’s most loyal allies outside Russia.

Belarus is a key player in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, using its vast border with Ukraine to support the Kremlin with logistics and troop mobilization.

Mr. Lukashenko attended the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, to negotiate his country’s possible membership in the organization, originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

“I don’t think the Russian military and leadership need the North Koreans,” said the Belarusian president, who insists that Russia has enough troops deployed in Ukraine and does not need military personnel from other countries.

He made a point of warning NATO against any intervention in Ukraine. If the Atlantic organization decides to join the conflict, Lukashenko says that "there will be another war."

If NATO soldiers enter the conflict, "the Russian army will be able to use its most dangerous weapons," referring to nuclear weapons.
