NATO's response to North Korean troops
South Korean National Intelligence Service delegation to brief NATO and European Union members on North Korea's military deployment in Russia on Monday.
Seoul says North Korean military personnel are receiving training to fight alongside the Russian military in Ukraine.
The mission will hold a meeting with ambassadors from NATO allies, allied sources confirmed after Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, asked Seoul to share first-hand information with the organization.
"If that were the case, if they were to send troops to Ukraine, that would be a significant escalation," Rutte said earlier this week, after indicating that he had extended such an invitation to a South Korean delegation. Diplomats from Japan, Australia and New Zealand have also been invited to attend the meeting.
The report of the arrival of 12,000 North Korean troops is reportedly being confirmed by various intelligence and general staffs.
