Macron slams Putin: ‘He doesn’t want peace’
Emmanuel Macron has expressed regret that Vladimir Putin appears unwilling to pursue "peace" or engage in negotiations with Ukraine.
The French President’s remarks came after Russia carried out a large-scale airstrike targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, aiming to plunge the country into cold and darkness as winter approaches. The offensive involved 120 missiles and 90 drones.
"If we need to understand Mr. Putin's intentions, his actions on the ground speak clearly: whatever his statements, he does not want peace and is not ready to negotiate, " he said from Buenos Aires.
He stressed the need to continue supporting Ukraine by providing "weapons and equipment."
"With what’s happening now, we must first equip, support, and enable Ukraine to resist. That is the priority in the coming days and weeks," he added.
Meanwhile, in the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized that he has no plans to speak with Vladimir Putin and called for "redoubling efforts to strengthen" aid to Kyiv.
