Oil prices surge following Bashar al-Assad’s ousting
The price of oil surged at the start of the week following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in Syria last weekend.
This upward trend is expected to continue, as the HTC rebels have signaled that they should not be feared.
Although Syria is not a major oil producer, its strategic geographic location could cause potential disruptions for key oil-producing countries such as Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.
As for Bashar al-Assad, who had ruled Syria for 24 years, he and his family have been granted asylum in Russia.
